Sony AI partnered with us to document its efforts to address one of artificial intelligence’s most urgent and complex challenges: fairness. A Fair Reflection introduces the Fair Human-centric Image Benchmark (FHIBE), a groundbreaking new standard designed to help researchers evaluate computer vision models and identify bias.
The film translates this highly technical work into a human story, focusing on the researchers confronting the ethical implications of AI and their responsibility to ensure these systems work equitably for everyone.

The production used physical props and constructed scenes as visual metaphors to communicate complex ideas about perception, bias, and machine learning. Mirrors, lenses, and controlled environments became storytelling tools, helping visualize how AI systems interpret the world and where distortions can occur.
Motion graphics were integrated throughout to bring clarity to highly technical concepts, translating datasets, model evaluation, and bias detection into accessible visual moments. Combined with a restrained editorial approach, these elements created a cinematic visual language that balanced abstraction with precision, allowing viewers to understand both the technical process and its broader implications.
